What does the Parkway PTA do? The Parkway PTA (Parent Teacher Association) was created in 1930 to connect parents and teachers in a joint effort to provide the best educational experience possible for the entire Parkway community. Today the PTA raises funds through the Panda Pacer jog-a-thon, t-shirt sales, book fair, Panda 5K & 1K Fun Run and general donations. Why does the PTA fundraise? We raise funds to support several categories: staff reimbursements for educational supplies, supplies requested by the school, staff appreciation items, family events, student enrichment activities and much more! Why should I officially join the PTA? We encourage all parents to become PTA members and renew their membership on an annual basis (each school year). For 2023-2024, dues are $10 for an individual or $15 for a family. This covers state and national PTA annual dues. Members are able to vote on important decisions made at our meetings and are eligible for Board positions. How do I become a PTA member? You may bring $10 or $15 (cash, check or credit card) to any PTA meeting or sign up online. Do I have to be a member to volunteer? Absolutely not! We are always eager to welcome new volunteers however often you are available to help. I want to volunteer; how do I get started? You can learn about volunteer leadership roles and other opportunities at PTA meetings or contact us via email at [email protected] anytime to share your interest and inquire about volunteer opportunities. We always welcome new ideas and talents to contribute to the PTA. Please keep your eyes out for school emails announcing volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
